A local Chinese-Thai vegetarian with buffet-style food until 3pm. Good if the dishes aren’t old. Great soups.

FOOD REVIEW BY MICHAEL (2013)

Quick, healthy vegan buffet-style lunch
Cuisine: vegetarian (vegan)
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Recommended dishes: all soups, several buffet-style dishes
Price indication: inexpensive; average meal about THB 50 / person
Location: Changklan road. From the Nightbazar, follow Changklan road until you see a soi on your left leading to the Empress Hotel. Take the soi but don't go on to reach the Empress Hotel, turn around the block to turn into another soi. It's around the corner.
Open: every day except Sunday for 'breakfast' and lunch, closed at 3pm

This is definitely one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town. There is only one downside to it: it's buffet-style so the food isn't always crispy fresh. I guess you'll find the most abundant and freshest selection of dishes in the morning when they just opened or just before noon, as this is when most Thai have lunch. But they cook new dishes every now and then.
The food isn't only vegetarian, it's even vegan. Yet, there are many different dishes and it's tasty so it's not boring at all. No MSG, not too much oil, not too much salt. Like most vegetarians, they have brown rice in addition to white rice.
The soups are truly unique in Chiang Mai: clear soup (with some ginseng), black sesami soup, corn soup and pumpkin soup. You won't find this kind of pure, fresh soups anywhere else and definitely not at this bargain.
Run by a Chinese family from Yunnan, the food is mainly Chinese-Thai cooked vegetarian style. No Western style salads.
It's a very local and low-profile place, and you may have some difficulty to find it at first, because there are no big signs on the road except for a Thai style vegetarian logo (with the usual Thai letters in it that look like the number "17").
Easy for a quick, healthy and cheap lunch.
