1 night is 1 night too many @ Home Place Hotel Chiang Mai The water pump was extremely LOUD at 6 AM! It was right next to my room and I couldn't sleep. The sheets smelled like heavy SWEAT, perfume, and... saliva? I guess the Home Place Guest House just never bothers to wash them. There was a lot of noise next door all night, loud music and yelling. I think a bottle might have been smashed. It was just loud. I asked about it possibly being stopped or at least quieted down, but the staff wouldn't bother with it. The room was dirty in general. The TV didn't work, the shower was extremely weak, just a trickle. The toilet wouldn't drain properly, so the water just sort of surged and spilled out onto the bathroom floor. I wouldn't suggest the Home Place Guest House as a place to stay to anyone.

1) I am frequent traveler from Canada. I stayed at Home Place many times before and I found at my last stay there July 2012 that I saw prostitutes rent the room on the first floor for a long time basis and brought the sex customers for her business in the room one after another all night. And I also saw gays and tomboys brought their clients to the room. There were door slammings and loud noise in the hallway. You will be amazed to see the ugly night scene of the hotel around 1 a.m.. You will only know about this Home Place Guest House well when you stay late at the lobby. It's like red light district. Go stay to see it for yourself. 2) WiFi internet cannot be connected well in upper floor. You have to use it in the lobby where lots of mosquito bite you while you use internet. 3) The name ” Coffee Shop” is just exaggerated, but only instant coffee and tea with junk foods are available. 4) I saw dry red dirty spots on my mattress in Room 401 when the maid changed the bed sheet cover. The bathroom floor stained with dirty color spots. They do not have maids to clean the room. They have only two front desk girls sharing to work two day shift. They do the checking guest and also leave the front desk to clean the room very quickly. The reviews of customers in Booking dot com is correct and rooms are a bit dirty. You have to ask the front desk girl to come to clean your room. They do not pick up the garrage basket I put outside of the room. I have to tell them to come to pick it up. 5) Front desk girls are nice like most of the Thai people, but nobody speaks English at all to be helpful to you. I can speak Thai well. One front front desk girl told me to take a taxi to the direction that I asked. I took the taxi and found it is easy to find and only 5 mins walk. I mentioned it to the same front desk girl when I came back to the hotel and she was rude to me. 6) When I phoned and also wrote to complain all the above to the owner of the hotel, she did not address my concern nor respond to my emails. Very unprofessional business operation. 7) One Westeren guest died in the guest house in 2011 and another one around April 2012 on the first floor room. You can ask about it to the neighbors of Home Guest House to confirm this information. I think prostitutes put drug to the guest at night and left the westeners died in the room. 8) Location is good, staffs are friendly, but they cannot help you because they don't speak English. The better guest houses are in Old Chiangmai. The guest houses in new Chiang Mai in Tapae Gate area are mostly dirty with smaller room.
